A new song for Easter
This Easter Sunday morning we will be singing this song which may well be new to some of us.
This Easter Sunday morning we will be singing this song which may well be new to some of us.
Easter is one of the most important seasons in the Christian calendar. There are lots of opportunities to be part of these celebrations this Easter in Portstewart.
Sunday 13th April is Palm Sunday. Our service in Portstewart begins at 10:30 am and we will be thinking about who the people were welcoming into Jerusalem that first Palm Sunday. Who do we believe Jesus is? We will be reading from John 14: 1-6 when Jesus said I am the way and the truth and the life.
Good Friday is the day we remember just how much Jesus has done for us. The day begins with a walk of witness. We meet with other local churches on the Harbour Hill at 11:00 am before walking along the Promenade stopping to read the crucifixion story along the way.
At 7:30 our Good Friday celebrations continue as we meet in the church for a communion service. We remember Jesus command to remember. All are welcome to join us in this moving and significant time together.
Easter Sunday begins with a dawn service at 6:00 am on the Harbour Hill. We meet with our brothers and sisters from Portstewart Baptist Church and Burnside Presbyterian Church to welcome the dawn of a day filled with hope.
The culmination of our Easter celebrations is the Easter Morning Service in Portstewart Presbyterian Church at 10:30 am. It is a morning when the church is filled with our own members along with people who have come to Portstewart on holiday. This makes for a wonderful celebration with a full church and incredible singing. Why not come along and join us this Easter as we declare together that Christ is Risen.
It was wonderful to have the Sperrin Choir last night. Enjoy the recording below.
This Sunday we will be learning a song that is new to us as a congregation. Why not take a listen between now and Sunday to help us get the hang of it.
The first Sunday of Lent is 9th March. We celebrate Lent to create time and space in our lives to prepare for Easter. The Easter Story is at the very heart of the Christian Gospel. Easter tells the story of the ultimate sacrifice when the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world was slain so that all who believe may have eternal life.
Over the six Sundays in Lent as we prepare for Easter in Portstewart we will be thinking about Jesus I am sayings. We have called this series Jesus said, ‘I Am’. Our hope is that as we consider what Jesus said about himself that we would learn to trust in truth. Of course the greatest truth to trust is Jesus resurrection and incredible victory over death.
All to often Lent is reduced to giving up chocolate in today’s world. Why not use this time to do something much more meaningful. Come along to Portstewart Presbyterian Church for the 6 Sundays in lent at 10:30 am and who knows instead of learning to live without chocolate, we might learn what it is to live with Jesus.

Over the coming Sunday’s we are reading and thinking about the book of Daniel. In 2023 we looked at the first 6 chapters of Daniel in a series we called the Confidence of Daniel.
In the remaining 6 chapters we are thinking about the Vision of Daniel. Daniel had a number of strange visions of animals and other strange creatures, all of which symbolise an earthly kingdom and how those kingdoms fall before the throne of God.
If you would like to come along and be part of worship in Portstewart, below is a list of who is preaching and when. Also included are the passages we will be reading from so as you can come prepared for each Sunday.

If you enjoyed the choir and the praise band at our Carol Service then why not enjoy them again with the highlights below.
This Saturday brings our Christmas Tree festival to a close. If you haven’t been able to see round the trees here is a quick tour of what you have been missing.
The closing of the festival doesn’t bring our Christmas celebrations to a close. There is still a lot of reasons to visit Portstewart Presbyterian this Christmas. Our Nativity Service is on Sunday 15th at 10:30 am. Our Christmas Party is on Saturday 14th at 6:30 and the annual Carol Service is on Sunday 22nd at 6:30 pm and of course Christmas Morning at 10:00 am.
Do come along and celebrate Christmas with us this year.
Christmas is about much more than parties and trees, it is about the birth of a saviour. There are lots of opportunities in Portstewart to take time and reflect on this incredible miracle of advent. As well as our normal Sunday morning services our nativity service will be on Sunday 15th December at 10:30 and our carol service the 22nd December at 6:30 pm. Of course Christmas wouldn’t be the same without our Christmas morning service at 10:00 am.
Our Christmas Tree festival has been extended for another day. You can still come and see the trees on Saturday 14th December between 10:00 am and 6:00 pm. This really will be the last chance to see the colour and sparkle of all the trees so do make sure you come along.
The celebrations continue even after the tree festival closes. On Saturday evening our family Christmas Party takes place in the church hall. Eternity Socials will provide the party atmosphere and Crafts for Christ will be there to help us make those last minute Christmas decorations. Who knows, maybe we will have the odd special visitor calling in as well.
Why not come along and join us at some or all of what is on offer. Christmas is a truly wonderful time of the year, make it even more special this year by reflecting of the true reason we celebrate.
