A new song for Easter
This Easter Sunday morning we will be singing this song which may well be new to some of us.

Easter is one of the most important seasons in the Christian calendar. There are lots of opportunities to be part of these celebrations this Easter in Portstewart.
Sunday 13th April is Palm Sunday. Our service in Portstewart begins at 10:30 am and we will be thinking about who the people were welcoming into Jerusalem that first Palm Sunday. Who do we believe Jesus is? We will be reading from John 14: 1-6 when Jesus said I am the way and the truth and the life.
Good Friday is the day we remember just how much Jesus has done for us. The day begins with a walk of witness. We meet with other local churches on the Harbour Hill at 11:00 am before walking along the Promenade stopping to read the crucifixion story along the way.
At 7:30 our Good Friday celebrations continue as we meet in the church for a communion service. We remember Jesus command to remember. All are welcome to join us in this moving and significant time together.
Easter Sunday begins with a dawn service at 6:00 am on the Harbour Hill. We meet with our brothers and sisters from Portstewart Baptist Church and Burnside Presbyterian Church to welcome the dawn of a day filled with hope.
The culmination of our Easter celebrations is the Easter Morning Service in Portstewart Presbyterian Church at 10:30 am. It is a morning when the church is filled with our own members along with people who have come to Portstewart on holiday. This makes for a wonderful celebration with a full church and incredible singing. Why not come along and join us this Easter as we declare together that Christ is Risen.
It was wonderful to have the Sperrin Choir last night. Enjoy the recording below.
This Sunday we will be learning a song that is new to us as a congregation. Why not take a listen between now and Sunday to help us get the hang of it.
The first Sunday of Lent is 9th March. We celebrate Lent to create time and space in our lives to prepare for Easter. The Easter Story is at the very heart of the Christian Gospel. Easter tells the story of the ultimate sacrifice when the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world was slain so that all who believe may have eternal life.
Over the six Sundays in Lent as we prepare for Easter in Portstewart we will be thinking about Jesus I am sayings. We have called this series Jesus said, ‘I Am’. Our hope is that as we consider what Jesus said about himself that we would learn to trust in truth. Of course the greatest truth to trust is Jesus resurrection and incredible victory over death.
All to often Lent is reduced to giving up chocolate in today’s world. Why not use this time to do something much more meaningful. Come along to Portstewart Presbyterian Church for the 6 Sundays in lent at 10:30 am and who knows instead of learning to live without chocolate, we might learn what it is to live with Jesus.
